About Me

Hello! I’m Coral Evermore, passionate writer and avid lover of English literature. Here you will find my growing body of work from short stories, essays, poems, and plays.

Reading from a young age cultivated my overactive imagination while providing an escape from the outside world. As a girl, I chose to sit against a tree with my friend as we wrote our own stories instead of being on the playground. One of the first stories I ever wrote was about us falling asleep against a tree and waking up in a fantasy world in which we were the prophesized heroesthe ultimate escape.

My innate love for storytelling carried over into later years, but I only managed to write snippets for the big ideas in my head. Now, however, I have officially begun my writing journey. I am predominantly a gothic fantasy writer that leans heavily into atmospheric, character-driven, and ambiguous storytelling very much inspired by history, mythology, and psychology.

Influenced by Edgar Allan Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and the Brontë Sisters, I write to unflinchingly explore the human condition by blending the beautiful and the grotesque. Writing also offers me a space to process complicated human emotions for cathartic release to express my rich inner world. As Hemingway says, “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”

My passion for literature began as a troubled teenager watching my animated English teacher rant about the Flammarion engraving. With an awakening curiosity, I marveled at the pilgrim who had peered through the veil into the firmament. He made a crude drawing on the whiteboard of a man looking through a mirror in order to indirectly see the sun. This was the function of literature, he said, to see the Truth without becoming blind. This moment imprinted itself onto my mind, propelling me into a future of intellectual fervor.

Since the Summer of 2024, I have dedicated myself to perfecting this beloved craft. If you would like to follow along my journey, feel free to check out my website, subscribe to the newsletters, and comment on any posts that might resonate with you.

Thank you for reading!
