What does it mean to be a writer?
It is to have passion sewn deep inside,
To take on the burden of a lamplighter.
It is to refuse, by any means, to abide
To the silly notion of time.
It is to resist against all that is dying,
And to embrace all that is sublime.
It is to ask what this or that may be signifying,
To remain courageous in the face of extinction.
It is to find meaning amongst the rubble of our pain,
To dare that humanity holds its own distinction.
It is to wonder if our words will remain
After our bones crumble away as dust blows in the breeze.
It is to hold up a mirror against the Truth that is too bright,
To give way to the sight which was seared, in order to see
That the writer must dare to be an Author of Light.
